A K S Vijayan to represent Tamil Nadu in Delhi | Chennai News

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu on Monday appointed A K S Vijayan, ex-MP of Nagapattinam, as its special representative in New Delhi.
An order to this effect was issued by chief secretary V Irai Anbu. “The sanction was accorded for the creation of a temporary post of special representative for the government of Tamil Nadu for a period of one year with effect from the date, on which the appointee takes charge or till the need for it ceases, whichever is earlier,” the order said.
Vijayan is a native of Sithamalli in Tiruvarur district. The veteran was elected from Nagapattinam LS seat in 1999, 2004 and 2009 and held various positions in the Parliamentary committees, including railways, communications, transport, tourism and culture, and public undertakings. He was DMK’s Parliamentary leader in 2009 and was chairman of committee on Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS). Vijayan also held the post of DMK Nagapattinam district secretary.
