Bengaluru, Mysore have Worst Drivers in India; Indore scores high on ethics: survey

The roads in India are not very safe considering the death rate. In fact, erratic driver behavior is another annoyance that government agencies must address to keep roads safer. According to a survey by Zoomcar, one of India’s leading self-drive rental companies, India’s Silicon Valley topped the list of cities with the worst drivers. Famous for its Sarafa Bazaar and delicious dishes – Indore has the highest score for driving ethics. Zoomcar conducted the survey in 22 cities across the country using its proprietary driving scoring system.

Data collected between November 2020 and November 2021 shows that the capital of Madhya Pradesh – Indore – has 35.4% of good drivers, followed by Nawabs city – Lucknow with 33.2% of good drivers. Hyderabad is close behind with a valuation of 33.1%.

When it comes to cities with the worst drivers, Mysore leads with the highest score. The city has about 18.5 percent of the worst drivers. Ahmedabad is close behind with 14.8% of bad drivers. Silicon Valley, India – Bengaluru ranks third for driving ethics. 14% of drivers in this tech-driven city are bad drivers.

Zoomcar has partnered with location data provider and technology platform HERE Technologies to develop the rating system. Rental companies collect data on nearly 200 million data points, such as tire life, acceleration, deceleration, engine speed, vehicle speed, brake wear, and more. In terms of scoring, a driver with a score below 50 is considered poor, and a driver with a score above 65 is considered good.
