NEW DELHI: Leader of opposition in Delhi assembly Ramvir Singh Bidhuri on Saturday said that the two-day monsoon session called by the AAP government was inadequate to discuss all important issues concerning the capital. Bidhuri said that the monsoon session should be at least 10-days long so that members can raise, discuss, and debate important issues.
“It is strange that ever since the constitution of the 7th Delhi Assembly not even once the question hour has been held and now in the two-day session a curtailed question hour is being held. The members should get adequate time and attention to raise questions and issues inside the House pertaining to their constituencies. In a two-day session, the members will hardly get any time to ask questions or raise important issues,” Bidhuri said.
“I request the Speaker to hold a ten-day session to allow best use of time and privileges by the members,’’ he added.
Bidhuri said that Delhi was confronted with various problems and issues especially in the aftermath of second Covid-19 wave and the members cannot be denied the right to raise issues that impact the citizens of Delhi. “There are important issues around education, healthcare, environment, public transport, water and power and they need time for debate and discussion,” Bidhuri said.
