How to prepare for SBI Clerk 2021

State Bank of India (SBI) had invited applications for Junior Associate posts (Customer Support and Sales). The selection process will consist of an online test (Preliminary & Main exam) and a test of specified opted local language.

Recently the SBI has postponed the preliminary exam which was scheduled to be held in the month of June while the SBI Clerk Main exam was to be held on July 31, 2021.

The test for knowledge of specified opted local language will be conducted as a part of selection process. It will be conducted after qualifying the online main examination but before joining the Bank. Candidates who fail to qualify this test will not be offered appointment.

Preliminary Examination

Online Preliminary Exam consisting of Objective Tests for 100 marks will be conducted online. This test would be of 1-hour duration consisting of 3 Sections as follows:

Each test will have a separate timing as mentioned above.

There will be negative marks for wrong answers in the Objective tests. 1/4th of mark assigned for question will be deducted for each wrong answer. No minimum qualifying marks are prescribed for individual test OR for aggregate score. Section wise marks will not be maintained.

Adequate number of candidates in each category as decided by the Bank (approximately 10 times the numbers of vacancies. subject to availability) will be shortlisted for the Main Exam from the list of all candidates arranged in descending order of aggregate marks scored.

The questions in objective tests, except for the test of General English, will be bilingual i.e., English & Hindi. There will be negative marks for wrong answers in the Objective tests. 1/4th of mark assigned for question will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Candidates are required to score a minimum percentage marks on aggregate (For SC/ST/OBC/PWD/XS/DXS candidates, 5% relaxation available thereon). Minimum qualifying marks on aggregate will be decided by the bank. No minimum qualifying marks for individual subject are prescribed. Section wise marks will not be maintained. Merit list will be drawn State wise, category wise. Candidates qualified in the test (main examination) will be placed according to their aggregate marks in descending order in respective States and Categories.

How to prepare

Make a study plan and follow it to ensure all the topics/subjects are covered. Revision is the key to ensure that you remember what you have studied, so revise every week.

English Language

As mentioned above, candidates are advised to go through the detailed syllabus before starting preparation as lot of changes have been incorporated in the exam this year. After understanding the syllabus fully, candidates should focus on clearing their basics. If your basics are clear and strong, scoring high in the exam becomes easy. You should read newspaper every day, and take the mock tests at regular intervals. Analyze your mock tests and find out your weak and strong areas. Work on your weak areas and try to improve your performance in each mock test.

Reasoning Section

To gain the mastery on Reasoning, candidates should practice of different topics. Clear your basics and devote your maximum time to their practice. There is no short cuts you need to practice, practice and practice.

Numerical Ability

This section tests your ability to calculate. You need to improve your speed and accuracy for scoring high in this section. Mock Tests will also help you prepare a timing strategy.
