Mumbai: Dharavi records zero Covid case | Mumbai News

MUMBAI: Dharavi area of the city has recorded zero Covid positive cases on Monday for the first time since the second wave started in the city in February this year.
The total number of Covid cases reported from the area 6861 off which there are around 13 active cases. On April 8 this year, Dharavi had reported 99 Covid cases on a single day which was the highest. Unlike other pockets of the city the area however was not affected badly during the second wave.
Assistant municipal commissioner of BMC G North ward Kiran Dighavkar said that like other slum pockets in the city Dharavi too was not hit hard. “However we were taking all steps from our side ans aggressively testing to ensure any positive case is isolated as soon as possible,” he said.
On May 26 last month, Dharavi had reported three Covid positive cases, showing first sign of a decline in case numbers. COVID-19 had entered Dharavi on April 1 last year and there were days when over 90 cases have been reported as well. For instance May 3 last year witnessed 95 positive cases being reported in one day while in May 15, there were 84 cases reported. However December 25, the area had reported zero positive cases for the first time ever since the pandemic.
