Odisha Police Recruitment 2021: Notification for 721 SI & Constable posts released, transgender can also apply

NEW DELHI:: Odisha Police has issued a notification inviting applications for recruitment of sub-inspectors and constable posts and making trans people eligible to apply for these vacancies.

The recruitment to the SI post will be done to the main police cadre, while the constable (communications) is a technical cadre.

This is for the first time members of the transgender community are allowed to apply for the posts of constables and sub-inspectors in the Odisha state police department.

The Odisha Police Recruitment Board sought online applications from men, women and transgender people for the appointment of 477 sub-inspectors and 244 constables (communication).
Interested and eligible candidates can apply online through the official website – https://odishapolice.gov.in/ – starting from June 22 to July 15, 2021.

Odisha Police Recruitment 2021: Method of Recruitment for Constables

The posts of Constable (Communication) will be filled up by direct recruitment.

Eligibility Criteria (Constable): A candidate, in order to be eligible for direct recruitment to the post of Constable (Communication), must-

a) be a citizen of India

b) have passed +2 examination or equivalent examination conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Odisha or by any other recognized Board or Council;

c) have passed Diploma in Computer Application or Equivalent Course from a recognized institution duly affiliated by the Government;

d) be able to speak, read and write Odia and must have passed Odia as one of the subjects in the High School Certificate Examination or an examination in Odia Language.

The candidate must have the following minimum physical standard of height, weight and chest, namely:-

Written Test: Allotted Marks: 100 Time: 2 hours

Written Test will consist of Objective type multiple choice questions in two parts.
Part A (25 marks): Comprising of questions in Odia Language, English Language, Arithmetic, Aptitude test and Logical Reasoning et. The standard of questions will be of +2 standard.

Part B (75 marks): Comprising of questions to test the proficiency in Computers. The standard of questions will be such that, a student who has passed Diploma in Computer Application (DCA) or equivalent course will be able to answer.

The Written Test may preferably be conducted using OMR or OCR or any other modern format or Computer Based Test technology as decided by the Board.

Candidates should note that there shall be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.

Physical Efficiency Test: Qualifying

For Men (All categories): Running for 1.6 Kms in 7 minutes. If covered in beyond 7 minutes, the candidate will be disqualified.

For Women (all categories): Running fr 1.6 Kms in 9 minutes. If covered beyond 9 minutes, the candidate will be disqualified.
