Oil tanker and container catch fire after collision in Nalasopara, two injured | Mumbai News


MUMBAI: An oil tanker caught fire after it hit a container on Mumbai-Ahmedabad national highway in Nalasopara early on Monday morning. The container too caught fire.
The drivers of the vehicles sustained burn injuries. The condition of the tanker driver is critical.
Both the oil tanker and the container were badly charred.
At around 3.45am, the oil tanker was headed towards Ahmedabad in Gujarat. It crashed into a container ahead of it at Pelhar Phata in Nalasopara.
Due to the impact of the crash, the tanker went up in flames. Not many vehicles were on the road at the time of the incident.
The Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC) fire brigade took over two hours to contain the flames.
The driver of the tanker sustained serious burn injuries on his limbs.
Movement of vehicles on the highway was hit in the morning as work on clearing the charred vehicles was under way.
