Sanjay Raut: No groupism in Shiv Sena, says Sanjay Raut after Pratap Sarnaik’s ‘letter to CM’ | Mumbai News

After Shiv Sena MLA Pratap Sarnaik shot a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray appealing to him to reconcile with the BJP, senior party leader, and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut rejected that there were ‘two groups in the party’.
Sarnaik, who is under the Enforcement Directorate’s scanner for alleged money laundering, in a letter to Thackeray said that it is better to join hands with Prime Minister Narendra Modi again as Shiv Sainiks feel that would save Sena leaders like him, Anil Parab and Ravindra Waikar from problems.
However, when asked Raut if there were two groups in the party, the Sena leader said, “There is one group in Sena and it is known as Balasaheb’s group. Uddhav Thackeray is the party chief and we all work under his leadership.”
Further stating that Sarnaik is an important member of Sena and a senior party MLA, Raut said, “He and his family are in trouble. He has given the reason in the letter. He has said that he is getting harassed by the BJP and the central agencies without any reason and should ‘reconcile’ with PM Modi to get rid of that problem, and that is his opinion. But, Uddhav Thackeray has taken a stand after speaking to everyone and he has the right to make decisions. Shiv Sena stands behind Pratap Sarnaik.”
Raut also said that the coordination between the three parties in Maharashtra is an example before the country on how to run a coalition government.
In the letter, Sarnaik, an MLA from Thane’s Ovala-Majiwada constituency, also added that there are civic body elections in Mumbai and Thane, and though the alliance with the BJP has broken, personal relations between leaders of Shiv Sena-BJP remain and it is better to reconcile before it breaks off completely.
In 2019, the Sena forged an alliance with the NCP and Congress and formed the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).
A few months ago, the agency had raided various premises linked to the Sarnaik family in Mumbai and neighbouring Thane.
The ED is probing alleged suspicious dealings of Amit Chandole, the promoter of the Tops Securities Group, Sena MLA Pratap Sarnaik and others, all of whom have denied the allegations.
